Third Season:The third cycle of the series was aired on September 22, 2004. This season had fourteen contestants again two more than the previous one. This time the competition was really tough and that could be seen from the fact that there were thirty four semi- finalists in Los Angeles and from there only fourteen made it to California. The fortunate fourteen were then taken to Jamaica for their first photo shoot. Out there in Jamaica it was revealed that one of them, will have to get back home from here only and the unfortunate one was Magdalena. From here the girls went back to New York, where after their first challenge the judges decided to eliminate Leah. After this the girls were provided makeovers. Their next challenge was a photo shoot for Nivea, but without any make up. After the shoot the judges decided to eliminate Julie as they thought that she was not serious about the whole modeling thing. The girls then had modeling lessons from Miss J. and later they were made to walk ramp for Heatherette, a very famous fashion designer. For the elimination round the girls had to do a photo shoot for Lee Jeans. It was Kristi who was sent home by the judges as they felt that she lacked confidence. In the next episode, the girls were given posing lessons and then as a part of the training they were made to pose as mannequins wearing lingerie at La Perla’s store window. For the elimination round the girls had to pose on roller skates and sell Dooney & Bourke purses. Jennipher was sent back home at the end of the episode. The next challenge for the girls was one of the most interesting one. They were asked to run fourteen flights of stairs and as soon as they land the terrace they had to do a photo shoot. The girls also posed for YJ Stinger Energy Drink. This time it was Kelle’s turn to say good bye to all. Their next challenge included a visit to designers and the contestants had to impress them. It was Cassie who was sent home.
The remaining girls got advice from stylist Rebecca Weinberg. After a photo shoot the judges decided to eliminate Toccara. The next challenge for the girls was to read a commercial and eat umeboshi. This time it was Nicole’s turn to leave the show. This time the girls were tested on the basis of their knowledge, about tea ceremony. Their photo shoot was for T-Mobile, for which they had to pose as geishas in kimonos, with cell phones. Next in row, to be sent home was Norelle. The next challenge that the girls had to face was an animation themed photo shoot. The girls had to shoot on a motorcycle with animated looks. Ann had to leave her dream of becoming America’s Next Top Model, here only. With three girls left, the girls had to do a photo shoot for CoverGirl. It was Amanda who was eliminated after this round. Now with two left, Yaya and Eva had to compete with each other. Eva was the won who made it to the top, thereby making Yaya the first runner up.
