Season 5 of the series was aired on September 21, 2005. This time the number was reduced to thirteen. A change in judging panel was noticed, with Twiggy and J. Alexander joining the panel. The thirteen new contestants were taken to their new home where they would have to stay till the finale round. Their first photo shoot was given a superhero theme. Judges decided to send home Ashley as they were of the view that she totally missed the model attitude in her. Next, the contestants had to undergo makeovers. After the makeover the girls had to do a photo shoot with other contestant of their choice. At the end of this episode the judges decided to eliminate Ebony for her poor performance. The girls were then given walking lessons by Miss J, after their walking lessons their challenge was to walk down a runway and pose on a turning platform. Their next photo shoot was on a moving platform. This time the two girls left the show. Cassandra decided to quit the show, being the only one to take such a decision. The judges, on the other hand decided to send home Sarah. For their next photo shoot, the theme was plastic surgery photo shoot. At the end it was Diane was the one who had to say good bye to all. Their next photo shoot was a challenging one. They had to a commercial shoot, photo shoot, and press interview all in half an hour’s time. Judges choose Coryn to be the one to be sent home. Next, for girls was Black and white photo shoot. Their next challenge included a mud shoot. Kyle was the one who was sent home. This time the girls had to shoot a scene with Wild Boyz. Some did well, while others had some problems with their partners. At the elimination, the judges decided not to eliminate any one. Six of them were then taken to London for the international photo shoot. In London, their first photo shoot took place inside a telephone booth, where the girls had to pose wearing only panties, galoshes and a newspaper, as if hiding from the paparazzi.
For the judgment Lisa’s photographs were disliked the most by the judges and she was asked to leave the show. For their next challenge the girls had to pose as statues, at the end of the photo shoot Kim was eliminated. This time, for the elimination round, the girls were photographed in a shoot out and the theme was Bollywood. The judges decided to eliminate Jayla who was, when compared to others not so good. Now, that the number was cut down to three, their second last assignment was a photo shoot for CoverGirl. It was Bre’s turn to leave the show. Nicole and Nik had to face each other for the final two. After the final photo shoot the judges decided to make Nicole America’s Next Top Model, for cycle five.
