America’s Next Top Model cycles are reality modeling television series created by Tyra Banks. Other than Tyra Banks; J. Alexander, Nigel Barker, Paulina Porizkova, Twiggy, Janice Dickinson, Kimora Lee Simmons, Nolé Marin, Eric Nicholson and Beau Quillian have remained show’s judges from time to time. 10 by 10 Entertainment and Bankable Productions have produced the show in association with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Ken Mok and Anthony Dominici. Its theme music has been composed by David Thomas & Les Pierce but performed by Tyra Banks. Originally, its episodes have been broadcast on UPN channel but since 2006 on The CW, in 480i (SDTV) picture format. For now, it has been syndicated internationally by King world. America’s Next Top Model cycle 1 was premiered on 20th May, 2003.
America’s Next Top Model cycles mostly start with 10 to 14 female contestants and step by step, one contestant is eliminated in every episode with some exceptions of no elimination and double elimination. Usually the last five episodes are shot in international destinations and there an episode covers about 3 to 4 days working while locally an episode is shot for a week. The contestants have to go through fashion challenge going on “go sees”, appearing in a runway show, selling a commercial product, dealing with press interviews, photo shoot etc. but before the starting of competition all the contestants get training from celebrities of relevant fields. In a photo shoot challenge, the contestants have to pose nude or semi nude with animals/males. They are also judged on the basis of musical video shots. The winner gets choice to share their prize with other contestants who include night out, clothing or commercial photo shoot. In Every episode, Tyra, after consulting other judges starts taking out photographs of those who are not to be eliminated congratulating them that they are still in the competition.
